The Reading / Listening - Level 0

Men do not help enough around the house. An American university says it is rare for men to share housework. Researchers looked at working couples who became parents. Men did five hours a week less housework after their baby was born, even though both parents had jobs. They spent this time helping with the baby.

Becoming a parent added 21 hours per week to a mother's work, mostly looking after her baby. New fathers did not do extra work. They did not know the mother was doing more. After a baby is born, men let the mother look after the baby. This happens even when the mother is doing the same number of hours in her job.
