The Reading / Listening - Monster Bees - Level 1

Children can be afraid of the dark and have nightmares. They hear noises at night, or see imaginary monsters. For one little girl, the monster was real. Three-year-old Saylor told her parents about the "monsters in the wall" of her bedroom. Her parents thought the "monsters" came from Saylor's imagination because she had just seen the movie Monsters, Inc. Saylor's parents were shocked when they found 60,000 bees behind Saylor's bedroom wall.

A beekeeper said the insects were honeybees. These are protected in the USA, so they could not be killed. The beekeeper said he had never seen so many bees in a house. He drilled a hole in the bedroom wall. Saylor's mother said: "They just came pouring out, like a horror movie." The beekeeper captured the bees. They are now living on a special honeybee farm. The bees caused more than $20,000 in damages to the house.
